HTC is a place where people of all backgrounds and beliefs can gather to discuss Jesus and explore life, especially through The Alpha Course, which has now helped 20 million people worldwide to encounter Christ. As a small local church we feel honored to have an opportunity to play our part in what God is doing in and through all the churches in the McLean and Greater Washington area.
Reverend Jamie Haith, and his wife Andy Haith, have served the Church of England at Holy Trinity Brompton, in London, for the last 20 years. The Haiths have now made the big move to come and lead this community. They already have a great affinity with America as Jamie has worked in partnership with Alpha USA for many years.
So, thank you for visiting our website, and please know that you are more than welcome to visit us in person at HTC, any time. The coffee is on…
The History and the Vision
The idea for this new church first came about several years ago when a local couple, Glenn and Suzanne Youngkin, spent six years living and working in London. While there they were deeply encouraged by what God is doing in and through Holy Trinity Brompton. HTB is a church that delights in working with all people, of any denomination or none, and has a vision to play its part in the re-evangelisation of the nations and the transformation of society. It is the home of the now globally renowned Alpha Course as well as the Marriage Course.
HTB is a church that plants: that is, it offers a few people a great adventure by putting them in an old church in a new part of town. This has now happened 20 times in London, bringing new life to old communities.
Whilst HTC is not a “church plant” there are strong family links back to HTB. Perhaps you could define it as “more of a niece than a daughter”, so the same high values are placed on contemporary worship, a deep sense of family, and the belief that the church should be “out there” interested in the local community. After all, the church is the only club that exists for the benefit of its NON members! So we are passionate to nurture an atmosphere where those not used to church feel welcome, where all ages know they are special and belong, and where everyone can expect to meet with God.
Interview with Head Pastor Jamie Haith
HTC's Head Pastor Jamie Haith was interviewed by local Christian radio station WAVA some time ago about HTC, how it came to be, and some ways he feels God will work through the community. You can listen to the interview in its entirety here:
